The Gateway Bass'N Gals fished their fourth 2007 tournament event out of Black Jack Marina on Sunday, July 8th, 2004. There were 4 boats with 8 participants fishing this tournament. Want to welcome new member Jill Willhite! This was her first tournament with the club.

The bite was very slow. Most everyone was able to boat some short fish but keepers were almost impossible to come by. On a positive note, the weather was surprisingly pleasant for July. Not so good for fishing but it was a very nice day on the lake.

Big congratulations to Lynda Gessner who didn’t give up and managed to put it to the rest of us late in the day with one keeper that weighed 1.89 lbs. Lynda caught this bass on a main lake point near Black Jack Marina with a Texas rigged 6” lizard in green pumpkin with a chartreuse tail. She won $120 for 1st Place and Big Bass. Lynda was fishing as a non-boater with Bonnie Katke. Bonnie and Lynda spent most of the day in Lick Creek and reported catching about 20 short fish just under 15 inches in Dry Fork.  Bonnie and Lynda caught their fish on senkos and Texas rigged lizards in green pumpkin.

Fishing conditions were tough. Most of the bites came early on main lake and secondary points. Anglers reported catching fish on top water very early and then plastics prevailed for the remainder of the day. Fish were caught on lizards, brush hogs, and white flukes. There is a lot of baitfish. If you don’t see baitfish you may want to try a different spot.

Our next event is our Buddy Tournament at Pomme De Terre!!! We will be fishing out of Indian Hills Resort on September 30th. This tournament is open to the general public. We welcome anyone interested in fishing this event.
