The weather sure is having an effect on the fishing here at Mark Twain
this year. As I write this the water level is above 616 and rising quite
rapidly. This means a couple of things to us. It means the catfish will
be biting great, especially the channel cats at most any point where
water is entering the lake. All you need is some nightcrawlers to catch
these. The crappies will be especially tough (as if we haven't
experienced enough of that this spring) with the water being so muddy
and rising. The crappie will be going into their summer pattern soon,
especially if the weather settles down like they say it should after
this storm system is done abusing us. The white bass should continue to
do well if you can find the islands, which will probably be under water
soon. The water temp is at about 71 at the tailrace and well into the
70's out on the lake.
